GET READY & BE PREPARED
This message is for those of you who have something heavily weighing on your heart and you know you NEED to start getting to work! For some it might be to start writing, or maybe to pick up an instrument, sing again, write out those plans for a new business, plan ahead for a geographical move. Whatever it is that the Lord has placed on your heart you are constantly, gently being reminded and nudged by the Holy Sprit to start. BUT the busyness of life passes you by and you get swept away in a whirlwind of everything else that is in your path. In turn you end up putting it on the shelf, once again.
A few weeks ago I was working on a project and gave out a large sigh as I half rolled my eyes and slumped into my chair. Thinking to myself “Oh Lord why am I even doing this”? What is the point? For me I thought about all my past failures and asked the Lord why am I even doing this now? Then the Lord brought this reminder –
Noah
Noah built the ark when he did NOT see the rain. He was faithful and obedient. He moved on God’s word with great faith and when the rains finally came down he was prepared. For many of us what the Lord has placed on our heart we need to act on obedience and faith. We do not see the final outcome and where the Lord is leading us step by step but when we do step into the vision we are ready and prepared because we obediently acted out of faith.
Abraham
Abraham loved God so much he was willing to sacrifice what he loved most when he did not see the final outcome of how God would provide. His heart was tested! For some of us in order to do what has been placed on our heart we need to sacrifice something that we enjoy or even love but takes us away from what God is preparing us for. That extra bit of sleep in the morning, time away from the TV or even some time off Facebook! We might need to walk away from our own personal desires and pursuits to follow the plans God has for us and this will often take sacrifice on our part. Thankfully God is faithful and He sees when we choose His ways above ours, He is always there to provide just as he did for Abraham. Abraham did not see the end God had in mind yet He faithfully acted on God’s word with obedience.
David
David was a shepherd boy in a field long before he was a great king and leader. It was in this field he was being prepared to step into his destiny. In this field he learned to be brave, fighting off lions with great courage and strength. In this field David was developing a relationship with God as he spent days worshipping. When David finally faced the giant He was ready and prepared not because of His own strength but purely because He knew who his God was. He was ready and prepared because he was trained to fight and worship. For some of you who feel like you are sitting in “the field” waiting to step into your destiny know that God is preparing you so that when you face that giant you know who your God is as he leads you into your destiny.
So I urge you brothers and sisters, to act when you don’t see the final out come. Be obedient in sacrificing your time or whatever needs to be done to do what God has placed on your heart so that when the rains come you are ready and prepared!
When looking up some verses for being ready and prepared I found this – “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
Be ready and prepared at all times holding your shield of faith against the schemes of the enemy as you continue to walk out in courage and discpiline doing what it is God has placed on your heart.
To end, most of the verses brought up on being ready and prepared we are told to be ready for the return of Jesus our King. – “Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come. “It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert. “Therefore, be on the alert–for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep. “What I say to you I say to all, ‘Be on the alert!'” Mark 13 33-37
Friends let us live a life that seeks God and His righteousness and everyday let us ALWAYS be ready for the return of our King!
