My Weakness. His Strength

Have you ever had a weakness that brings you to your knees?

A weakness that simply brings you to tears?

A weakness that frustrates you so much you wish you could change yourself in a heart beat. A thorn in your side that makes you feel like less of the person you should be or the person you were made to be?

The meaning of the word weakness:

“the state or condition of lacking strength”.

“a quality or feature regarded as a disadvantage or fault”.

I am sure we all have a few areas in our lives where we can see these descriptions fit in well. When I think of my weakness I become frustrated and often think how could I change? How could God use someone like me? I have so much I need to get right and in order, such a long way to go!

The truth is we all have weakness. Some more than others.

There is no perfect person in this broken world, and we will all be weak at one point or another on this incredible journey we call life.

This is what I truly love about the power of the Cross and all it teaches because it goes against what the world teaches us about being weak.

Weakness is seen as a disadvantage in the world.

When I am in my weakest moments I remember 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, it says:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me”.

Although at times we are weak, we remember God is strong and He hold’s us through our weakest moments. His power is made perfect through our imperfections. For where we cannot accomplish much in our own strength, all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us.

What a promise this is, although we might feel like we have such a long way to go there is hope, and not because we can do it all in our own strength but because God will strengthen us to accomplish so much.

So today in your weakest moments, be encouraged and in your weakness know that you have been given the power to overcome. In those failing moments it is exactly where God’s grace will rest upon you and carry you through into greater victories that you never dreamed possible.

Isaiah 40:31

“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
