Patience

This tree is so lovely to look at.

I wonder how much time it took to grow this tall?

It might not have been as appealing when it was less than a foot high. With more time I am sure it will grow into something even more attractive than what it is today.

The word Patience –
I looked this word up and this is what I have found –

“A person’s ability to wait something out or endure something tedious, without getting riled up.”

“An ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay:

“Quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence:

to work with patience.”

Well guys I dont know about you but I have failed on these points, quite miserably.

One small example I can think of when it comes to my lack of patience is cooking! This is not one of my forte’s and I am sure it’s because of time. A few seconds after I have switched the stove on, every minute feels like 10 minutes and I am constantly coming back to hover and see if the food is done. It won’t make the process go any quicker and the only thing that I will achieve is frustration.

A valuable lesson I have had to learn is to have patience when waiting on the Lord. Lets face it lessons are not fun, but they are beneficial if we learn from them. I am a person who comes from the microwave generation. Now, quick, drive through, immediately, done. When Lord, when, why is this not happening? I become so frustrated with not seeing instant results.

In this world there is a process to everything. First we crawl, then we walk and then we will run. There are seasons and we must identify the season we are in. There will be no harvest without spring and summer, a time of planting and working the ground. Too many of us give up when we don’t see the results we expect.

We are called to wait on the Lord. To trust that He is faithful to fulfill His promises. Even when we do not see anything happening. Do we really trust Him with our dreams, hopes and plans?

We must!

This is where faith kicks in. Sooner than later, if we persevere the shoots will start breaking through. We will grow through seasons of change and in due season we will bear fruit and reap a harvest if we DO NOT GIVE UP.

Whatever it is that you are waiting for, pray for patience so that frustration will be lifted. You will be able to move freely and remain steadfast on the promises you are waiting on. God is faithful and is doing a good work in you.

Habakkuk 2:3

For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
